ASIO and Refugees
No charge, no trial: life sentence

There are currently about 60 people who have been found to be refugees, yet are in detention for life due to a negative ASIO security clearance. Yet ASIO will not tell them why this decision has been made, or give them any chance to challenge the evidence against them. Some have been in detention for over three years, with drastic consquences for their mental health. But this scandal is now gaining greater attention, with the parliamentary inquiry into detention, Labor’s National Conference, The Greens and others calling for change.
